Week 7 - Term 1

This week I have learnt about integers and standard form. Integers are basically just positive and negative numbers that you have to add together. Standard form is just normal numbers but they are really big. Engineers use standard form so that they don't have to write out big long numbers.

We had a farewell assembly for the Makuhari students on Friday because it is the only day that they are in school with us. On Saturday I was in the Junior Farmer competition at Pokuru school. Emily, Bobby and Holly won. After we were sad because next year we will be too old to compete. On Sunday we took Shiori to Raglan and Emily and Bobby were there. Me and Emily covered Bobby in sand so afterwards she was mostly buried.

Week 6 - Term 1

This week we have started using a website called CommonLit for reading. On CommonLit, Mrs Crowe sets us assignments and we have to read them and answer questions.

On Thursday the Makuhari students arrived and on Friday we had a Powhiri for them. My Japanese student is called Shiori, this weekend we are going to take her rock climbing because that is what she does after school in Japan. On Sunday we might go to Jump because Shiori has never been on a trampoline before.

I finished my jersey in sewing and I really like it. It is blue, green and purple, now the I have finished I get to make a soft football.

We have started writing an original for our rock band. We are doing things differently than last year because last year we did our cover first.

Week 5 - Term 1

This week I was the reporter for Wims swimming. I had to go to the cambridge swimming pool with everyone who was swimming and write about how the day went and take photos to put in the magazine.

We also had our first student assembly or the year. We put some music on and danced, afterwards Sm and me had to give a speech and share some photos from Wims swimming.

We had our final rock band auditions on Thursday as well, these were to decide what band we were. On Friday we had interhouse swimming. Overall Waikato cam 2nd and got the bonus point. We had a bombing competition which was new because we didn't have it last year.

For writing we are doing explanation on a wonder of the world. I'm doing mine on the Northern Lights because I think they are really interesting and I want to see them when I'm older.

For maths I am doing factors and multiples because I got those wrong in the test we did to see how much we knew. The other things I need to practise are: Estimation and Integers, after that I have Extension work.

I have started doing Lyrical after school. Lyrical is a combination between Ballet and Jazz. It's really fun but I still like Ballet better.

I have also started doing extra Ballet classes as well as my normal Thursday class. One of these classes is the level above my class, but the other is my competition class where I learn a dance to compete. We finally got our Pointe shoes on Thursday we had to wait an hour after class to start being fitted and then each girl took round about half an hour. It was good that I fit the first pair I stood up in because then we could finally go home.

Welcome back to my blog for 2017!

The last three weeks haven't been very busy because everyone is still settling in. Next week I think we are starting testing. On Thursday week three I found out that I got Head Student for 2017. This is really exciting because thirty people applied and there are only four head students. The other head students are: Brylee, Stagea and Daniel. I'm really excited for camp this year because we are going to Wellington and I have never been there before! We are going for five nights and are going to lots of exciting places. The house captains and class councilers haven't been announced yet so fingers crossed. Our first tech arts for the year is fabric and we are all having fun designing our polar fleece jerseys. On Friday of week two we had had minor games and all the people who want to be a house captain had to lead their house and cheer them on.

Week 2 - Term 4

This week we have been doing our end of year PATs so they can see what we have learnt. We have also started art this week as our tech arts. I'm happy about this because I am quite good at art.

This week on Friday we had our Grandparents day. This is when everyone's grandparents come and we show them round the school and they have morning tea and then them as well as the rest of the school watch a concert. I was in the concert for three things: Jump Jam, Rock Band and Guitar. For Jump Jam we did A Little Party Never Killed Nobody. For Rock Band we did Ship To Wreck and for Guitar we played Stressed Out. There were lots of other groups performing like Kapa Haka and the Drama group.
